Congratulations to GU12 A - Challenge Cup State Champs!
This past Saturday, the GU12 A Team went to sleep dreaming of becoming a State Champion after defeating Eastside in the semi-finals. On Sunday, April 28th, that dream became a reality as the GU12 A Team defeated Crossfire. FC Alliance and Crossfire played a close, tough match in the 2013 Challenge Cup State Championship, but a late goal by FCA sealed the win, 1-0.
The two teams played an even first half; both showing great defense, as the score remained 0-0 going into halftime.
The game was appearing to go into overtime until the 56th minute when Erin Simmons was able to convert on a ball played by center midfielder, Madison Meiring. Simmons took on 2 players, using her size and speed to beat both of them and creating a 1v1 with the goalkeeper. Simmons was able to maintain composure as she placed the ball in the back of the net for the game-winning goal. Congratulations to our FC Alliance GU12 Team for reaching their dreams and becoming State Champions!

Parents & Coaches enjoying our first ever Auction
FCA Auction 2013 was a HUGE success!
As you know, the theme for our first inaugural auction was: "Set a Goal; Score a Goal." For the Auction we set a goal of $50,000. Incredibly, and beyond our wildest dreams, we raised over $100,000 for FC Alliance --- doubling our goal!
A big thank you to all those who donated items and came to purchase them -- we could not have done it without you.
The future couldn't be brighter and in better hands!

Tony DiCicco Puts on Successful GK Clinic
We had a wonderful turnout last night at our Tony DiCicco Goalkeeper Clinic. Tony has a wealth of experience and knowledge in both playing and coaching. There aren’t many of us who can say they were coached by The Women’s National Team coach, a Pro Team coach, a sports commentator, a National Team Member... you name it, Tony has done it. The keepers were put through an extensive warm up, dealt with a lot of ball handling, and focused on the four different types of catches. They progressed into some stations where they were run through basic shot stopping, 1v1’s, dealing with crosses, and distribution. At the end of the three hour session, all the keepers left with more tools in their tool box and were exhausted!
A big thank you goes out to Tony DiCicco and his staff for the time they took out of their busy lives to come to FC Alliance to help better our keepers!
Coach Santa Wins 2013 Seattle University Young Alumnus of the Year
A 2008 SU graduate with a history degree, Santa Maria Rivera is a voice of hope for the Washington State Latino community. As a first generation Mexican American living in Yakima, he had few college-educated role models. He started his college career at Wenatchee Community College where he caught the attention of Redhawk soccer coach Pete Fewing.
Rivera soon after joined the Seattle U soccer team where he led the Redhawks to a National Championship in his freshman season. After graduating, he played two years for the Seattle Sounders and now uses what he learned at Seattle U to change the lives of others in the community. Rivera has dedicated himself to helping at risk students by giving them the educational support that he did not have growing up. He currently works for and acts as spokesperson for Golazo, an all-natural sports drink company that encourages young soccer players to pursue their dreams and fulfill their potential. Rivera embodies Seattle University’s vision by being a leader for a just and humane world.
FC Alliance would like to congratulate Santa on this well-earned honor. We are proud of you Santa, and very pleased to have you a part of FC Alliance.
Guzman and Maynez
Guzman and Maynez join EPD Travel Roster
FC Alliance’s Edgar Guzman, BU12 A and Jesus Maynez Jr, BU13 A have been selected for the EPD Travel Team 2013.
Coach Hugo Alcaraz speaks very highly of both players, “Guzman is a very creative, unselfish and exciting player to watch. He trains 4 days a week, which demonstrates his commitment and passion for the game.” Additionally, “Maynez is a hard nosed player who can be very dynamic in the attack and possesses a great desire to compete and win.”
Both players will be outstanding representatives not only of FC Alliance, but also of the state of Washington. Good luck Edgar and Jesus!
